Jonathan Grotefendt

Lead Trainer

Jonathan brings more than a decade of experience in the energy industry, beginning in 2011 when he joined the U.S. Navy and served as a Submarine Nuclear Operator and Electrician (EMN1(SS)). In 2017, before completing six years of military service, he earned his NERC Reliability Coordinator certification. Since then, he has worked as a Power System Operator, building a career around his passion for operating the Bulk Electric System. He earned a degree in Business Administration in 2010 and also pursued studies in ancient Greek and Hebrew. Before launching his energy career through the Navy, Jonathan and his wife spent four months backpacking through Europe. Married for more than 16 years, they homeschool their four children and enjoy road trips, caring for their pets, and exploring the wonders of creation together.
